When something goes wrong in your life, yell ‘Plot Twist’ and move on.
2024 was a difficult year, with illness playing a large part (thanks COVID!!). Plans for 2024 went out the window, along with my drive and inspiration for certain writing projects.
During the past year, I’ve learnt to slow down and rest when I am tired, to prioritise the important things; to say ‘No’ to the unimportant things, and to allow myself ‘to edit the page if needed or rewrite my story.’ I subsequently cancelled all goals and plans I had for writing for 2024 to remove any pressure.
I kept writing throughout the year, whatever caught my fancy or inspired me. I started new projects, continued old ones and abandoned others, hopefully, those that I will pick up again. Writing provided me with escapism and hope – something we all need. Slowly, I am making progress; I’m beginning to feel like my old self again.
This year, I will continue working on an adult book I have been writing while also working on a Middle-Grade story that is almost ready for a professional assessment. The aim is to have this ready for submission to traditional publishers later in the year.
I have a few other writing goals for 2025 and hope to self-publish a children’s book during the year if all goes well. Sign up for my newsletter here to learn more and/or follow me on Facebook or Instagram.
